The 4x2 Dual-Band Module is an auxiliary RF front-end designed to extend the capabilities of the GNSS-SRP FOUR while maintaining compatibility with other 4×4 MIMO SDR platforms such as the FMCOMMS5.

This module enables dual-antenna, simultaneous dual-band GNSS reception, allowing independent acquisition of upper and lower GNSS bands from two spatially separated inputs. It is particularly suited for applications requiring spatial processing, such as beamforming, interference mitigation, or direction-of-arrival estimation.

2-channel dual-band GNSS module diagram

Each antenna input supports concurrent reception of both upper band (L1/E1) and lower bands (L2/L5/E5/E6), which are internally separated and routed to dedicated SDR receive channels. This architecture allows full utilization of a 4-channel SDR without the need for external frequency conversion.

System configuration is straightforward, with no additional LO generation or mixing stages required, simplifying integration compared to multi-band transverter-based solutions.

When paired with the GNSS-SRP FOUR, the module operates in a plug-and-play configuration, powered directly through the integrated bias-T. When used with third-party SDR platforms, an external power supply may be required depending on the system setup.
